NuMat Medtech
NuMat Medtech is focusing on 2 bioactive coatings, based on small molecules of natural origin, with potential applications in dental and orthopedic markets. The coatings developed by NuMat are trying to address the main challenges of the current commercial medical implants, including poor osteointegration and high risk of infection.
NM_973
Bioactive nano-surface modified with a flavonoid that shows osteogenic, osteoinductive, anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties, promoting at the same time significant reduction of bacterial colonization around implant surfaces
NM_973 is a nano-scale coating based on flavonoids, small polyphenolic molecules derived from plants with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. They are present in the daily human diet and their intake has been related to the prevention of cancer, and of cardiovascular and neurological diseases.
Metal surfaces coated with the flavonoid can promote both soft and hard tissue integration, which is of high interest in order to avoid peri-implantitis occurrence in dental implants, thus decreasing implant loss risks.
